OLY.B initiated this creative process by crafting detailed prompts for the AI, guiding it to generate base images that capture the essence of these historical figures. She then invested several hours in manually refining each AI-generated portrait, adjusting facial features, expressions, and adding unique details to bring an unparalleled depth of realism to the artwork. The goal was to make the paintings as lifelike as possible, portraying the celebrities in a way that they appear to be breaking through the glass — a metaphor for their enduring presence and impact through time. Once the digital transformation reached her exacting standards, OLY.B transitioned to creating the physical artwork. She selected either wooden or aluminum panels as the foundation, onto which the AI-enhanced image was transferred. Subsequently, she applied a layer of epoxy resin, followed by meticulously placing shattered glass pieces to form a distinctive pattern. This final touch not only added a textural dimension but also symbolized the celebrities’ transcendent break through the temporal barrier, offering viewers a visceral connection to these iconic figures and their legacies. Through “Breaking Time,” OLY.B not only explores the intersection of technology and traditional art but also invites contemplation on the themes of legacy, memory, and the relentless march of time, capturing the essence of these late celebrities in a manner that resonates with the contemporary audience while paying homage to their lasting influence.
